Announcing Changes at NOH
Dear Friends and Supporters of Nepal Orphans Home,
Nepal Orphans Home is excited to announce an important transition that has been a long time in the making. As you well know, NOH, through Papa’s House NGO, has been serving the needs of children and families in Nepal for over 20 years. We have raised and supported hundreds of children, from attending to their basic needs all the way through their secondary, college and university level education. We now have Papa’s House “alumni” successfully educated and employed in Nepal and throughout the world, many of whom are now raising families of their own. It has long been a goal to have Papa’s House NGO take over full responsibility for their operations and by the end of 2025, NOH will formally dissolve as a US-based organization and Papa’s House NGO in Nepal will operate with full autonomy.
Papa’s House NGO will continue its mission, supporting our young adults through the completion of their education and through the Chelsea Education and Community Center which supports the education of youth as well as basic literacy classes and workshops promoting self-sufficiency and empowerment for women in the local Dhapasi neighborhood. Outreach to various groups and organizations in Nepal including the Goldhunga Blind Children’s Home and Kanti Children’s Hospital will also continue. Other initiatives including important mental health support services are envisioned as Papa’s House continues to evolve in the future.
On a wonderfully related note, another generation of giving is blossoming in Nepal. Khemraj Shahi who grew up in Papa’s House, and Philip Freeman a volunteer through NOH’s former Volunteer Nepal program have teamed up to provide a wide array of services in Khemraj’s home Kalikot district. Forming No Limits Nepal in 2022, they have already accomplished much including the creation of a women’s center with sewing training, a microfinance program to provide women with earning opportunities, vision screening and cataract surgeries, the creation of a local library, provision of basic school supplies and the renovation of school classrooms. No Limits Nepal will not only continue to expand its supportive services, but will successfully partner with Papa’s House in providing needed services throughout Nepal.
To ensure your continuing donations remain well stewarded, some NOH board members have joined the No Limits Nepal board and your support for Papa’s House NGO will be processed through their US-based 501(c)(3) (https://nolimitsnepal.org/).
The many good works and services which NOH/Papa’s House has provided and continues to provide would not have been possible without your support. Michael, Boo, and I, along with the entire NOH board are deeply indebted to you for your generous support over the years. We are enthusiastic and optimistic about the union of Papa’s House NGO with No Limits Nepal and believe their united future is indeed very bright. We are confident that Papa’s House NGO will continue to improve the lives of many in Nepal in the years ahead and hope that you will continue your support of these efforts.
With immense gratitude,
Peter Hess
President, NOH Board of Directors
